Focus. Discipline. Precision.

Rise Jr. Shooting Academy develops junior athletes in Olympic-style air pistol and .22 pistol, from first-time shooters to national-level competitors on the USA Shooting pathway.

OUR STORY

Built on a Legacy

Rise Jr. began as Bridge Jr. Shooting Club, founded under the guidance of Coach In Kim, a mentor who believed that young people could achieve extraordinary things with the right training and the right example. His dream was specific and bold: to see a Korean American athlete, born and raised in this country, stand on the Olympic line wearing USA on their back. Bridge Jr. was built around that dream, and for years it was more than a club. It was where junior athletes rooted in the Korean American community learned the discipline of Olympic-style pistol, traveled to matches across the country, and grew up under a coach who knew every athlete by name.

When we lost Coach Kim in December 2024, we made a promise: his work would not end with him. The athletes he trained, the standards he held, and the community he built around this sport would carry on.

Rise Jr. Shooting Academy is that promise kept. The name itself is intentional. The bridge he built for us became the foundation we rise from. The name is new, but what happens on the line is not: the same methods, the same standards, and the same care he showed every athlete who ever stood beside him.

Today, every session we run, every athlete we develop, and every match we travel to continues what he started.

MORE THAN MARKSMANSHIP

At Rise Jr., precision shooting is the sport but discipline, focus, and character are the training. Our athletes learn to slow their breathing, quiet their minds, and perform under pressure. Those skills show up on the firing line, in the classroom, and everywhere else.

We train in the Olympic disciplines: 10-meter air pistol and .22 caliber pistol, following the standards set by USA Shooting, the national governing body for Olympic shooting sports. For athletes with the drive, we build the path toward national competition and the USA Shooting National Junior Team. For athletes just starting out, we build the fundamentals safely, patiently, and one shot at a time.

SKILLS THAT OUTLAST THE SPORT

  • Discipline

Progress in this sport comes only one way: showing up and doing the work, session after session. Athletes learn that improvement is earned, not given.

  • Focus

On the line, there is one shot and nothing else. Athletes train to quiet distraction and give their full attention to the task in front of them, a skill that follows them into every classroom and every test.

  • Composure

Matches put athletes under real pressure with everyone watching. They learn to steady themselves and perform anyway.

  • Independence

A shooter stands alone on the line. Athletes take ownership of their preparation, their equipment, and their results. No one can do it for them.

  • Organization

Managing gear, routines, training logs, and match schedules teaches athletes to run their own program, not just follow one.

  • Decision-making

Every shot is a judgment call: when to commit, when to reset, when to adjust. Athletes learn to read a situation and decide with confidence.

  • Leadership

Experienced athletes mentor newer ones. Learning to teach, encourage, and set the example is part of growing up at Rise Jr.

  • Confidence

Not the loud kind, the quiet kind that comes from measurable progress and knowing you can hold yourself to a standard.

OUR TRAINING PROGRAM

An Olympic discipline built on pure precision. Athletes train stance, breathing control, trigger control, and mental routine using competition-grade air pistols at 10 meters. This is where our new athletes begin building their fundamentals, and a discipline our competitors train in at every level, all the way to the Olympic stage.

Air Pistol (10m)

A distinct Olympic discipline with its own demands. Athletes apply the same precision fundamentals — trigger control, sight alignment, mental routine — while developing recoil management and the composure that rimfire competition requires. Our athletes train both disciplines.

.22 Pistol (25m)

Athletes who commit to the competitive track receive match coaching, mental performance training, and support at sanctioned matches — with the USA Shooting pathway and National Junior Team as the goal.

Competition Preparation

WHO IT’S FOR

Ages 9 and up. All new athletes and parents complete a safety orientation and enrollment process before their first session. Please note that we do not offer tryouts or single-day trial sessions. Athletes join Rise Jr. by enrolling in the program, and training begins with full commitment from day one. You don't need experience. You don't need equipment. You need focus, respect for safety, and the willingness to work.

  • New Shooters

Learning the fundamentals for the first time

  • Developing Athletes

Building consistency while gaining real match experience in competition

  • Advanced Competitors

Pursuing national rankings, the USA Shooting National Junior Team, and the highest levels of the sport

SAFETY

Safety Is the Foundation

Nothing at Rise Jr. happens before safety. Every athlete is trained in strict range protocol from day one, every session is directly supervised by our coaching staff, and our safety rules are non-negotiable for athletes, parents, and coaches alike.

Our program operates with signed enrollment and safety agreements for every family, and range procedures aligned with USA Shooting standards. Parents are welcome to observe and ask questions at any time.

MEET YOUR COACH

Janice Choi, Head Coach & Founder

Coach Janice began as Coach In Kim's very first student, competing in pistol disciplines from the age of 13 through her college years and earning numerous honors as a competitive shooter along the way. After her competitive career, she spent nine years as his assistant coach, training athletes at his side until his passing. Today, she continues a legacy that began with the two of them, a coach and his first student, leading Rise Jr. the way he led her: every session in person, every athlete known by name, and no shortcut taken on fundamentals or safety. Every training session is personal, combining technical precision training with the mentorship and discipline that define the program.

Her philosophy is simple. Precision shooting doesn't reward talent, it rewards character. An athlete who learns discipline, focus, and holds themselves to a standard when no one is watching has learned something that will outlast any season. Scores rise as a result of who the athlete becomes, not the other way around. That's what Coach Kim taught her, and it's what every athlete at Rise Jr. is here to learn.

At Rise Jr., no athlete stands alone. We travel together, train together, and cheer the loudest when a teammate steps to the line. Shooting may be an individual sport on the scoreboard, but no one gets there by themselves. Our athletes push each other in practice, steady each other at matches, and celebrate every personal best as a team win.

Family first, competitors second. That's not a slogan here. It's how we train.

TEAM CULTURE

TRAINED TO RISE

Five shots. Four seconds.

In rapid fire, there's no time to think — only training. Every movement in this video was built in practice: the draw, the rhythm, the reset between shots. This is what composure under pressure looks like when it becomes automatic.

The stillest sport there is.

Ten meters. One hand. A target ring smaller than a dime. Air pistol is precision distilled — heart rate, breath, and focus all brought under control before the trigger ever moves. This is where every Rise Jr. athlete builds their foundation.
